Introduction
Concrete doesn’t forget—The Plymouth reimagines.
A striking adaptive reuse project in Northwest Arkansas, The Plymouth transforms the region’s first all-concrete parking deck into a modern mixed-use hub. Featuring exposed steel structure, board-formed concrete, and a vibrant rooftop green space, the design blends industrial heritage with contemporary architecture. The result is a bold, deconstructionist-inspired landmark that redefines urban space through sustainability, transparency, and reinvention.

- Rooftop deck & green roof
The design restores the form of the original ESSO gas station and Plymouth dealership, with its distinctive white frames, while introducing natural elements like green walls and a vegetated roof to soften the hard lines. A cantilevered roof deck extends into the urban fabric, blurring the boundary between architecture and city, and inviting engagement from both patrons and passersby.
The terraced roof deck transforms a continuous surface into a dynamic sequence of distinct outdoor spaces, each carefully scaled to foster intimacy and a sense of place. By breaking the roof into cascading platforms, the design avoids the monolithic character of a typical flat roof and instead creates a composition of inviting, human-scaled experiences.
The formal outdoor wedding and event hall is anchored by two elegant portals, each framing a distinct experience. The primary portal welcomes guests into the hall, creating a transitional moment that elevates anticipation and frames the ceremony space. Opposite it, the secondary portal aligns with the distant Ozark hills to the east, offering a breathtaking natural backdrop and seamlessly connecting the hall to the surrounding landscape.
From its elevated, terraced roof deck, The Plymouth offers a layered perspective over the city—an intentional framing of the urban fabric through a lens of quiet elegance and curated nature. Here, softened edges meet raw structure, and plantings blur the boundary between concrete and canopy, transforming the rooftop into a living threshold between industry and renewal.
Summary
An adaptive reuse project in the heart of Fayetteville, Arkansas, revitalizes a historic structure into a mixed-use event space, blending references to past architecture with warm materials, green features, and inviting facade articulations. The design thoughtfully injects itself into the urban fabric, creating a vibrant, welcoming storefront facade.
