Summary
El Merkado reimagines the industrial market typology as a dynamic, community-centered destination. Rooted in durable materials—steel, brick, and concrete—the design embraces a raw honesty while softening the experience through natural light, layered transparency, and thoughtful spatial flow. The food court acts as a vibrant nucleus, with ancillary spaces branching outward to support commerce, collaboration, and daily life. At every turn, the architecture invites people in, fosters connection, and reflects a long view—creating not just a building, but a lasting framework for community to thrive.
