Bluestem

Introduction

Where prairie lines meet rustic refinement

Project Notes
  • 3,100 SF
  • Shifted gable volume
  • Horizontal material alignments
  • Natural materials
  • Rear courtyard

Low-slung rooflines and materials that emphasize horizontal lines create a visual language that guides the eye toward the house, allowing the structure to blend seamlessly with the landscape. This design approach harmonizes the horizon with the architecture, making the residence feel like an extension of its natural surroundings.

The primary volume of Bluestem serves as a visual barrier, preserving the privacy of the house while guiding you through a thoughtful transition into the residence. It frames the gentle rolling hills of the Oklahoma prairie, seamlessly connecting the home with its natural surroundings.

Bathed in the gentle glow of the rising sun, the southeast-facing rear courtyard pours morning light into the heart of the home—the living, kitchen, dining, and master suite—awakening the spaces with a quiet warmth as a new day unfolds.
